The Power of the Mind

Hey everyone. I know it's been a long time since I've been on here. I've had so much going on in my life that I let myself get distracted and consumed by all the negative that is around me. So the other day I came across this amazing quote that really inspired me to get back on track to a positive mindset and peaceful person. I've heard something similar in the past but for some reason, it never really sunk in until today.

This quote really inspired me because it's so true. As a Christian who really takes my faith seriously, this quote really speaks volumes and basically reveals one of the secrets to life....the power of the mind. It brings me back to 2 passages from Proverbs, which basically validate the quote and say:

"for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he." ---Proverbs 23:7
"thou art snared by the words of thy mouth" ---Proverbs 6:2

In essence, what we think and say determines our destiny. If we learn to control what we think and say, we can control our future.

So many times we let people's negative affect us to the point where we start believing their lies and think that we can't do or have something because of our circumstances. We let people trick our minds into believing that we are not good enough, or we can't become successful, or we can't attain something. But all along, we have the power within us to achieve anything that we want if we put our mind to it. The evidence has been there all along in the Bible. I'm just curious as to why I've never heard a sermon teaching this verse and really breaking it down. This is something that everyone, especially children, need to learn and understand. I wish someone would have taught me this when I was younger...it definitely would have saved me from myself and all the negative the world throws my way.

Life is a learning progress, we are constantly falling down and getting back up. I know I've had my share of falls and getting back up is the hardest part. But I'm starting to learn from all those mistakes and learning to brush off my pride, anger and humiliation. My future is worth so much more than anyone's negativity - including my own. It's time to get back on the roll and take control again.
